Socialize Care In America
62I have been intrigued at the lack of knowledge or the appearance of it across the United States concerning Socialized Programs. When someone speaks of Socialized Medicine or Socialized Care, many immediately respond with the ignorant remark, “I do not want the Government controlling my health care”, but what most people fail to understand (or pretend not to understand) is, we have been under several Socialized Programs for years and those programs are controlled and operated by our Government. One of these programs, Medicare, has existed for 45 years and was implemented into law by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965. This Socialized program has become a vital part of our health care system and without it, many elderly Americans, children and others would be without quality health care. Another organization controlled and operated by our Government, is the Social Security Program which was written into law by President Roosevelt in 1935 and its purpose was to limit the hardships of old age, poverty and unemployment. As you can see, Socialize Medicine has been a part of our country for years and it has worked fairly well, but there are those who continually oppose such institutions with ignorance and political vigor. To illustrate this point, I was watching the news late last night and the commentator politely asked his guest the following question, “when your parents become old enough to enroll in Medicare, will you attempt to persuade them to protest the program?’ The visitor then with an awkward expression said “Well I don’t talk politics with my parents.” The commentator continue to ask his confused guest about Social Security and whether or not he or she supported such payments, but again this person was unable to respond with any intellectual knowledge, but the guest did admit (somewhat), that Social Security benefits should have never been administered because our country should follow the founder’s desire of people helping those in need; when I heard this, I was surprised because those who are receiving benefits are receiving them because other hard working Americans are paying into the program, thus the idea of neighbor helping neighbor is still a imperative part of our country’s heritage. In conclusion, these two Socialize entities and many others are valued elements of our economic and medical structure and the execution of those programs were acts of compassion by our political leaders and those who contest such endeavors are ignorant, confused, arrogant or perhaps they have no care for anyone other than themselves.
